Zul'Aman: oldschool?

Rog posted in

Is it a 10 man? Is it a 25 man? Blizzard has officially confirmed that they've settled on 10 as the standard raid size for Zul'aman, much like they originally said before TBC was released.

A preview from Gamespot says:

"Zul'Aman is a smaller raid dungeon that's better suited for 10-character parties than the full-on 25-character raids that some of the game's larger dungeons demand."

It wouldn't surprise me if Blizzard had tried Zul'Aman as an optional 25 man on their internal test servers. The oldschool Azeroth instances originally could be raided in large numbers, but smaller groups were required to complete the quests. I don't know if they'd seriously consider larger groups on release, but they're clearly trying to recapture some of that old Stratholme magic. From Tigole's post:

"Zul'Aman will have a VERY challenging timed quest for those who choose to participate in it. This *will be* hardcore and will be very rewarding. Players do not have to engage in the timed run (very similar to the Baron run in Stratholme)"

There will be multiple quests waiting outside of the dungeon, which is a return to the old way of doing things. Let's hope the quest rewards are better than previously, because Smokey's Lighter isn't going to cut it these days.

For even more reading material, there's the Gamespy Zul'Aman preview.

Worst part of the news? There's no ETA, it will be "done when it's done". That doesn't sound like anytime soon.
